Bill and Melinda Gates announced in identical tweets Monday that they were ending their 27-year marriage. According to them “no longer believe” that they can grow as a couple.

The couple met during a business dinner in 1987, when Melinda Gates was a product manager at Microsoft. The pair then married around seven years later.

The financial details of the separation have not been revealed. Both Gates’s have signed on to Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge, promising to donate most of their fortune to charitable causes.

We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,’’ they said.

Melinda, joined Microsoft as a product manager in 1987, and the two met at a business dinner in New York and then they began dating. Despite the end of their marriage, Gates said they would continue to collaborate on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Here’s what they say about this “We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together.” The foundation has over $50 billion (€41.4 billion) in assets. They have also invested huge amount of money in the search of corona virus vaccine.

People are shocked due to this news because their wedding was dreamy as they got married in 1994 on the Hawaiian island of Lanai, reportedly hiring all the local helicopters to stop unwanted guests flying over.
