He got nominated for the category of best male soap opera actor in 2015 for his performance in ‘Mera dard na Janay koi’ on Hum Tv. Married to the love of his life and having a cute daughter Amirah with her; Wahaj has covered a major milestone in his personal life and is on his way towards success in his professional life too.

Q1 Tell us something interesting that your fans wouldn’t know about you?

When I first stepped into this field, I did not tell anyone that I was going to act. I used to do a 9 – 5 job at that time and I pretended going to the office and did not let anyone know that I instead went for shooting. I completed the whole drama shoot secretly and told my family only when it was about to air.
The response was very positive, but yes no one knew what I was up to the whole time.

Q2 Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert, and why?

I am an introvert and I don’t like hanging out or partying much. Rather I like spending time at home and having my own personal space.

Q3 what inspired you to become an actor?

My family used to be a hardcore fan of Moin Akhtar’s show ‘Loose Talk.’ I was a kid when it aired back then and I used to watch it too. I was quite fascinated by the way he would take different roles, different get-ups and different tones each day. I was awe-inspired by Moin Sahb and used to try and copy him.
Later I took part in school plays, dramatics and theatre on an academic level. So when an opportunity came in for acting, my heart knew I ought to do this!

Q4 what would you say is your biggest accomplishment yet in your acting career and your personal life?

It’s a long way to go and I feel I haven’t made a big accomplishment in this field yet.
However in my personal life, I have gotten what I wanted. Married the one I loved and now after my baby girl Amirah, my life seems complete.

Q5 How would you define your strength in acting or your acting style?

I think there is no short cut to being a great actor, neither is there a technique to do so. Every role demands a different kind of persona but I would say improvisation is my strength.

Q6 What is the most challenging aspect about your job?

One’s inner feelings reflect on the screen. So if you are playing a happy character, you actually have to feel happy and lock your sadness inside so it doesn’t show on the screen.
Also, at times the emotional scenes make me so depressed that it takes a while for me to get back to normalcy. This phase is quite a task for me.

Q7 How do you manage time with your work and your family?

Initially I was doing three projects simultaneously and learnt how time management becomes difficult. So now I have chosen to do one project at a time, where I balance work and personal life equally well and give enough time to my family too.

Q8 What character if any was the toughest for you to change into?

My character in ‘Mah e Tamam’ is very different and a little tough too. I have always played serious roles and here I had to be a joker (LOL). It was a great transition for me.

Q9 What sort of acting roles will you be seeking in the future?

I don’t plan or confine myself to certain roles, I just prefer that whatever roles I take they must have some significance in the story and shall drive the story line.

Q10 Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favorite and why?

My role as Fawad in the play ‘Dil Nawaz’ has been my favorite so far. It was a crazy love story and I absolutely loved it.

Q11 Are there any advices or tips you would like to give to the young and budding actors out there?

Acting is a very tough and a very tiring job. One has to forget everything else and put in their best efforts in this field. So if you opt for this profession then please do it whole heartedly.
