The pace of life in Sri Lanka is sedate in comparison to other popular tourist destinations in Asia, making it a good introduction to the region for travelers. From its rich cultural heritage to its history and religious temples, Sri Lanka is an inexpensive yet highly rewarding tourist destination. I recently visited Sri lanka with a friend of mine and we stayed in Movenpick in Colombo. It is a hotel that lives up to it name with its stunning ocean view, amiable staff and a rooftop infinity pool. Colombo is a go-to-destination with its exotic Buddhist temples, ancient light houses and the National museum. Laksala is well-known for Sri Lankan handicrafts, from its tea to its face masks and glorious Elephants. We became a big fan of the beautiful crockery at Noritake and Dankotuwa. Independence square and Mount Lavina are Must go-to Places in Colombo. For Shopping we went to Barefoot, Paradise Road and Raux Brothers. I am a big fan of food and it never ceases to be a highlight for me during my expeditions. The Gallery Café takes the take in terms of food and ambiance. If you love Italian cuisine try Bay leaf in Colonial House in Colombo. For the delicate French cuisine, check out café Francais in Park street. Coconut Roti in Sri Lanka is Must try! Shangrila Hotels Kaema Sutra owned by the beauty Jacqueline Fernandez serves the best coconut Roti ever!
Sri Lanka is definitely one of the most affordable countries for tourists. Sri Lankans is one of those rare countries that have a lot of respect for Pakistanis, the people are extremely friendly, well-educated and will make you feel like you’re at home. Make sure you have the Uber app or rent a car the moment you reach the airport. There are plenty of tea shops and gem stores selling valuable stones such as sapphires and rubies which can be a great gift for your loved ones at home. The weather does get humid there so pack your clothes accordingly. Happy Holidays!
