CALIFORNIAKISTAN – Taking Fashion across Borders

Samreen Imtiaz, is a fashion blogger who expanded her empire from Pakistan to California. An army brat, she was born and raised in Pakistan and later moved to The US to study Fashion Design from Monterey, California. She is not only a blogger but a stylist and an HR specialist who has a knack for travelling and adores Fashion. From the looks of it you won’t ever be able to guess but Samreen is married and has a beautiful baby girl, Ayrah Noor.

You have become an inspiration for the youth but what has been your inspiration?

My inspiration has always been my mother. She always kept herself together and made herself a priority first. Even at home her hair would always be done with her eyeliner on point. I strongly believe you can’t take care of others if you can’t take care of yourself.

You are currently working and studying as well. How do you manage that and your social life?

It has been really tough balancing blogging with studies. Yes, I have recently started working full-time and I have been taking a few classes per semester blogging side by side. It gets so hectic and oh did I mention taking care of two babies? ; My 18 months old and my dear husband. With all that I somehow miraculously manage to find time for my family and friends. First thing is to set your priorities right, and the next is time management, the rest falls in place.

What inspired you to start your own blog and how has your journey been so far?

Well my inspiration was kind of everything that i stand for really. I studied fashion design and have always inspired to become a stylist. Hence, i started a page on instagram updating it daily with my outfit details. I got a lot of support from my friends, family and even random people on instagram telling me to start a proper blog and here I am today.

What do you like and hate about being a blogger?

I love the fact I can express myself in the form of my style and clothing and I hate that people judge you for it.

Do you follow all fashion trends or you believe in having your own style statement?

I do bit of both. I love trendy fashion and follow it to some point but I make sure whatever I wear complements by body. Not every fashion trend is for everybody. You have to spend time in finding out what looks good on you and how well you can carry it; the rest is history.

What do you think is unique about you as opposed to other bloggers out there?

I think it has to be my own style statement! I pay close attention to not only my outfit but everything I’m wearing from head to toe. Hair is game changer for me! If you wear your hair in accordance to your look, half of your work is done already

You are doing almost everything young girls and women want to do these days. Is there anything you still look forward to do in life or are passionate about?

Yes, definitely there is so much more that I want to do besides working, studying, socializing, mothering and wifey-ing (I do have my hands full don’t i). I’d love to do volunteer work by giving back to the community and helping my Muslim brothers and sisters back home. Sometimes, we live our lives amidst all these luxuries, forgetting about people who have lesser than us. I wish to donate as much as I can. Just Give, Give again and Give some more.

Did you ever think of acquiring this as a profession?

Blogging is something I enjoy on the side but not something I would take as a full-time profession.

Some inspirational words you want to share with girls who are interested in starting something new, perhaps a blog?

My sincere advice would be, be yourself. No matter what your blog is about, fashion, cooking, make up or photography, just be your true self! You will get tons of love from people, a great deal of compliments, just take them and stay humble. But there will be a good deal of hate too, and of course you will be judged constantly. You need to take that also; because if you can take compliments, why not a little bit of criticism? (Just block the ones that are hurtful)

High waist everything! Jeans, Pants, Palazzos, You name it!
